As project lead at the Open Knowledge Foundation Julia Kloiber works closely with city officials, technologists, science institutions and engaged citizens. Their projects explore and leverage the potential of new technologies to help solve pressing city problems.
In the past couple of years she has been leading cutting-edge projects around Civic Tech, Open Data and Citizen Science in Germany and internationally. She is a transparency advocate with a special expertise in Open Data who has been working with governments and companies on projects and strategies. She is part of an advisory group for the Federal Ministry of the Interior to help implement the G8 Open Data Action Plan.
Julia started Germany’s first civic tech incubator, called “Stadt Land Code”, ran app challenges and hackathons on transport and energy data and advised companies like the Deutsche Bahn and Stromnetz Berlin on open data strategies.
Two of her current projects are the Civic Tech program Code for Germany and an international civic tech conference in New York: The Code for All Summit.
